One more thing to make sure is on your back to school checklist is to schedule an eye exam for your kids.
Optometrists say one in four school aged children have an uncorrected vision problem and that's a problem when as much as 80-percent of learning takes place visually.
"If your kid is taking three or four hours to do their homework, something's wrong. So a lot of the children who struggle with their homework, but they get good grades, they have a vision problem, and if their vision problem was taken care of, they would be doing just fine,” said Family Vision Center Optometrist Dr. Richard Foss.
Foss said it's not necessarily just needing glasses. It could be a problem like binocular vision or a lazy eye.
