LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A new Legacy begins at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse in less than two weeks.

The brand new, 70-million dollar hospital known as the Legacy Building, opens its doors for patients on January 19th.

The building will house a number of services including the emergency department. That area offers a number of new tools, more space., and private rooms for every patient.

"If you're in the emergency room, you're not having a good day, it's potentially a bad day, bad situation that you're working with, and the more we can do to keep that as calm and quiet and serene and healing as we can, the better," said Gundersen's Clinical Manager for Emergency Services Stephanie Hill.

The new hospital will also have seven more beds for E.R. and urgent care visits, with room for more as the hospital grows.
