LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The La Crosse Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps will host a home show on Friday, July 12.

"River City Rhapsody" features seven corps at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The event begins at 7 p.m.

The Blue Stars will perform their 2013 show, "Voodoo: I Put a Spell On You" at the event. The Blue Stars Executive Director Brad Furlano says they're adding and enhancing several sections of the show this week to increase its effectiveness.

"The La Crosse show is always a special event for our members, alumni and fans," Furlano said. "It's a thrill for the corps to perform in front of the hometown crowd."

The other drum corps that will be performing are:
-Bluecoats of Canton, Ohio
-Boston Crusaders of Boston, Massachusetts
-The Cavaliers, of Rosemont, Illinois
-Crossmen of San Antonio, Texas
-Music City of Nashville, Tennessee
-Troopers of Casper, Wyoming

The Blue Stars will have a rehearsal day in La Crosse on Thursday, July 11 at UW-La Crosse. The public is welcome to attend. The Cavaliers will hold an open afternoon rehearsal at Holmen High School on Thursday. They are celebrating their 65th anniversary season. There are three people from Wisconsin who are part of The Cavaliers this year.

The gates open for "River City Rhapsody" at 5 p.m. Friday. The events begin at 7 p.m. "River City Rhapsody" marks the mid point of the Blue Stars' 2013 season.

The last time the Blue Stars were in La Crosse was on June 20 for a preview of their 2013 show at Onalaska High School.
