9 puppies rescued from burning home
Dogs found in basement of home on fire in Oregon
Nine puppies were rescued from a burning home in southeast Portland on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the two-story house, currently being remodeled, at 7:36 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the basement. One person made it out safely, but told firefighters that a group of puppies was trapped inside.
Firefighters went in and rescued all nine dogs and safely brought them out of the house.
Since the home was in the midst of a remodel, firefighters were concerned about the possibility of the fire spreading. They covered each floor to contain any further potential damage.
Investigators are working to determine the cause and how much damage was done.
No injuries were reported to any people or puppies.
